Sekaten feast called Gerebeg Mulud. held on the day of the twelfth month of Javanese calendar Mulud. The festival begins at 7:30 am, preceded by a parade of royal guards consisting of 10 units: Wirobrojo, Daeng, Patangpuluh, Jogokaryo, Prawirotomo, Nyutro, Ketanggung, Mantrijeron, Surokarso, and the Bugis.
each unit has a uniform masing2. parade starts from the north yard Kemandungan palace, then through siti hinggil toward Performances, and then headed north alun2.
At 10:00 AM, Mount preceded by the troops leave the palace and surokarto Bugis. Mountains are made from food such as sayur2an, peanuts, red pepper, egg, and some complementary who is made of glutinous rice. To resemble mountains, symbolizes prosperity and wealth of the land of Mataram.
Parade greeted with tembakan2 and sahut2an by the Palace guards when passing through the northern alun2, processions of this kind is called Gerebeg. The word 'gerebeg' means 'noise derived from orang2 shouts'. subsequently taken to the mountains of the Great Mosque to be blessed and then distributed to the public. orang2 usually scramble to get part of the mountain because they believe that foods containing TSB supernatural powers. Farmers usually plant some spoils from the mountains on their land, with this belief would prevent them from misfortune and disasters.
According to the annual calendar of Java, there is another celebration of the Great and Gerebeg Gerebeg Ramadhan. Both are usually held after the month of Ramadan. Gerebeg Ramadhan is celebrated on the first day of Ramadhan, and the Great Gerebeg celebrated on the tenth month of the Javanese calendar at the feast of Sacrifice (Eid al Adha), who symbolizes the Muslim day of sacrifice.
