Great Wall of China was longer than previous estimates. The first such survey was published to ensure the long ancient wall.
Government mapping study for two years found that the wall is 8850 km in length. In fact, the length of the wall was usually referred to around 5000 km. Previous estimates, the length is based on historical records.
State media mentions, infrared technology and GPS to help locate some hidden areas by sand storms. The project found that the wall along the 6259 km, 359 km moat, and 2232 km of natural defenses such as hills and rivers. The study conducted by the Institute for Cultural Heritage and the Bureau of Surveying and Mapping.
