The Grand Palace is an historic place in Thailand. First, this place is the center of government as well as the residence of the royal family. However, since the early 20th century, the King of Thailand is no longer staying here. Now, its function changed into a museum.
This place is located at the Ko Rattanakosin area, an ancient city area of Bangkok, the Thai capital. The Grand Palace complex is surrounded by white walls along the 1900 meters. Building area was established in 1782 to 218 000 square meters.
Almost all the buildings in this place golden brown. Cultural describes traditional Thai decor. Upon entering this place, we could see a giant statue holding a weapon. Each of the buildings and statues in this place looks unique.
There is also a pagoda roof of the building which stands firmly with golden color. omplek consists of three layers. The first layer is the innermost layer of the royal family dwelling and the most important offices of the kingdom. The second layer is the outer layer consisting of the royal halls and government buildings. The third layer is the outermost area of the temple where there is statue of Wat Phra Kaew or Emerald Buddha.

In the northern part of this complex, there is the Royal Monastery of the Emerald Buddha. This is a big house as a place for the golden statue of the Emerald Buddha. The statue is visible in the position of sitting cross-legged on a golden throne in traditional Thai style. There are three patungEmerald Buddhist temples placed alternately in one year. Each statue is placed on the ongoing season, ie summer, rainy season, and winter.
According to history, the Emerald Buddha statue was first discovered by an abbot in a stupa in Chiang Rai town, the year 1434. Abbot who discovered the statue was to see a plaster sculpture of the nose was peeling. From there, he realized that the sculpture was made of greenish-colored precious stones. In his mind, the statue was made of emerald or emerald commonly called in English. Though, in fact, the statue is made of green colored gemstone.
This statue had been in Laos for 226 years before King Rama I brought it back to Thailand in 1778. When King Rama I built the city of Bangkok, he built a special home for the Emerald Buddha statue. Until now, the temple was still functioning as a place of worship for the Buddhist community in Thailand. Buddhist tourists even took a moment of worship.
Comply with Regulations
